Luxe Apartment Renovation in De Pijp, Amsterdam

Hungarian Point & Tonal Plaster: A Four-Week Interior Transformation in De Pijp, Amsterdam

In the heart of De Pijp, one of Amsterdam’s most characterful and creative neighbourhoods, RenoLiving B.V. delivered a complete interior transformation in just four weeks. The goal was to give an urban residence a calm, cosmopolitan identity without the extended disruption usually associated with high-end renovation. Precise planning, closely coordinated trades and an uncompromising standard of finish allowed us to move from bare surfaces to a fully refined home within a single month.

Crafted Surfaces: Parquet and Plaster

The home is anchored by a hand-selected oak parquet laid in a Hungarian Point pattern. The chevron geometry, associated with the grand apartments of Paris, brings rhythm and a sense of heritage to the floor plan, and its angled joints draw the eye through each room. Every board was chosen for grain and tone, so the floor reads as one continuous, considered surface.

Above it, the walls are finished in museum-quality smooth plaster in a soft, tonal palette. The seamless, mineral finish absorbs and diffuses light in a way paint cannot, giving the rooms a quiet depth. It forms a restrained backdrop that lets the parquet, the architectural details and the owner’s own collection take centre stage.

Light as Architecture

The defining feature of the interior is a custom-integrated illuminated niche. Rather than an applied fixture, it is built into the architecture of the wall, positioned to add depth to the room and cast a soft ambient glow across the plaster. In the evening it becomes the room’s focal point, turning a structural recess into a sculptural moment. The result is a refined sanctuary that pairs cosmopolitan elegance with the vibrant spirit of Amsterdam.
